A new beginning is always exciting whether it's marked by something material such as a new apartment, new job, or new city or just a significant date on the calendar. There's a feeling of optimism that can be extra motivating and this is known as the "fresh start effect". This enthusiasm is especially common around the start of a new year when people often set resolutions or perhaps goals that they'd like to carry into the new year.
However, the new year is a human construct just like all dates, so you can access the "fresh start effect" anytime you want. New week? New month? New year? TOMORROW? Your birthday? Every day is a chance to start whatever it is that you've been putting off.
